Three Telecom Guards in Remote Area and State Border Received Satya Lencana Awards

Jakarta, 28 September 2017 Three employees of Telkomsel received special awards during the peak of the 72nd anniversary of Bhakti Postel Day in Bandung. With a tireless effort in building network infrastructure and community in remote area and state border, Priatna (Manager Youth and Community Analysis and Solution Development Area Pamasuka Telkomsel), Ridwan Kadir (Engineer Power System Operation Regional Maluku and Papua Telkomsel), and I Putu Sumartana (Supervisor Radio, Transport, and Power Operation Tual Aru Branch Ambon Telkomsel) received Satya Lencana awards in post and telecommunication field from government of the Republic of Indonesia.

Ridwan and Sumartana received Satya Lencana Development, while Priatna received Satya Lencana Wirakarya. The awards were given by Director General of Post and Information Technology Ahmad. M Ramli in Cisanggurung field, PT Pos Indonesia building (Museum Prangko), Cilaki street No. 73, Bandung.

President Director of Telkomsel Ririek Adriansyah said, "We are proud and honoured for these awards. Our warriors have received worth acknowledgement from the government for their hard work in building network infrastructure and community in the remote area and state border. These awards are pushing us ahead to present the best for people in Indonesia in various regions, not just big cities.”

Remote and state border are the area that received special attention from Telkomsel. The presence of communication service for the local community is expected to urge development in the remote area and state border, among that to accelerate economy and social growth, also being the catalyst in promoting the potential region,  as well as increasing interest in investment, business opportunities and on top of that job opportunities. “With the network widespread all over the country, Telkomsel connects Indonesia through telecommunication service that opens up to the new opportunity and urges positive social economic impacts for the people (community),” as Ririek explained.

Priatna (39 years old), received Satya Lencana Wirakarya award, he had served several times in Nunukan district, Sebatik regency, North Kalimantan province that directly facing state border with Malaysia.  He spent his time with people around there to introduce and educate regarding internet service for the community who lives in state border. He did this as an effort to support the improvement of the economic activities of the local community over there.

At the same time, Ridwan Kadir (41 years old) had served in various area in Papua, starting from Biak to Sentani. He was one of the employees who joined the network expansion project in capital district (IKK) in Papua region in 2004. During his serving, he had to face nature challenge often such as dealing with large waves during on boat to various remote areas to guard the quality network in the area.

Another warrior, I Putu Sumartana (34 years old) was in charge to make sure the reliability of networking in five districts in Maluku province. He was also responsible for the availability of telecommunication access in untouched regions that have not received communication service yet, particularly the region that facing directly to Timor Leste border.

Bhakti Postel Day is commemorated every year by Communication and Informatics Community which consists of government institute, telecommunication service providers and telecom practitioners, both active and retired from their service. The commemoration uses “Working Together To Actualize Digital Society Indonesia” as the theme.
