Bali, 14 November 2022 – Affirming its consistency as a leading digital connectivity enabler in Indonesia, Telkomsel supports the commitment of the Indonesian government to the Digital Transformation Expo (DTE) organized by The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kominfo RI). DTE is part of a series of Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) at the G20 Indonesia Presidency 2022. The DTE event was held on November 13-17, 2022, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Bali. It was attended by several business people from across sectors ranging from the telecommunications industry, logistics, e-commerce, fintech, health-tech, to edu-tech.

 

DTE was held with a focus on becoming a showcase of Indonesia's readiness, achievements, and efforts to accelerate digital transformation in various sectors and increase investment attractiveness in the domestic digital sector. DTE will also discuss four main agendas: Digital Infrastructure, Digital Government, Digital Economy, and Digital Society. Telkomsel believes the DTE event can become a moment for Indonesia as an integrated unity by encouraging collaboration between the government, industry, society, and related stakeholders.

 

CEO of Telkomsel, Hendri Mulya Syam, who attended the opening of DTE in Bali (13/11), said, "Through the DTE event, which is an important part of a series of the G20 Indonesia Presidency 2022. Telkomsel is committed to supporting the government's agenda through The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of the Republic of Indonesia for the sustainability of all government programs in ensuring the availability of quality and equitable digital infrastructure, digital transformation of the public service system, strengthening the nation's digital economy and the readiness of dedicated digital talents. We hope that the entire series of the G20 Presidency can bring a positive impact, especially in opening up more potential collaboration and progress to achieve solutions to three G20 priority issues that include global health, sustainable energy transition, and transformation that supports the development of Indonesia's digital economy.”

To ensure the availability of quality and equitable leading technology digital infrastructure throughout the country, Telkomsel has deployed more than 260,000 BTS, most of which are supported by the latest broadband technology, 4G and 5G. Since the beginning of this year, Telkomsel has upgraded the 3G network to 4G to ensure equitable distribution and equality the broadband access throughout Indonesia. In addition, Telkomsel gradually and measurably continues to develop 5G networks and services throughout Indonesia by continuing to build collaboration with all stakeholders to strengthen the ecosystem by utilizing 5G technology that is more impactful and sustainable.

In supporting the digitization of public service operations, Telkomsel, through the Telkomsel Enterprise business unit, has also been trusted by several government agencies to provide digital solutions for transforming public services. Several leading digital solutions has applied in supporting the implementation of Smart Government, one of which is used to assist the government in analyzing and summarizing all responses from the public more accurately through comprehensive graphs. Then there are also solutions for optimizing the implementation of the Smart Environment, such as through services that can display pollution levels in each area by updating information in a matter of hours.

Hendri further added that Telkomsel also consistently supports the digitization of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), a pillar of the nation's digital economy. Through the 99% Usahaku service, a platform or application to help MSMEs to be more efficient, advanced, and develop with digital solutions offered by both Telkomsel and Telkomsel partners registered in the application by connecting all MSME players in an integrated digital business ecosystem.

As for its contribution to strengthening the ecosystem of Indonesia's digital society, Telkomsel has several programs that focus on developing the digital capabilities of Indonesian talents. Firstly, IndonesiaNEXT, which has focused on tech-talent development, encourages the presence of more technopreneurs with a mindset and competence in the digital industry. Then, through the NextDEV program, which is consistent in the early stage start-up discovery and incubation process, as well as acceleration to get further seed fund potential through the TINC (Telkomsel Innovation Center) program. In addition, there is also the InternetBAIK program presented to build awareness of positive and productive internet use through efforts to increase the understanding of parents and educators in assisting children's growth in anticipating the development of the broader impact of the internet.

 

Previously, in the 4th DEWG series in August 2022, Telkomsel has also presented several showcases of the use of 5G technology which include Cloud Gaming, the Augmented Reality (AR) Industry, Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robot technology. "The series of 5G showcases are part of Telkomsel's efforts to open the wider potential for Indonesia in increasing global trust. Especially from all G20 member countries to establish cooperation in various sectors, and increase greater investment value, thus supporting Indonesia to become a digital economy investment center in the Southeast Asian region in the future,” Hendri concluded.
